The New Forest
Magical, Mystical and Beautiful, just some of the ways to describe the wonderful New Forest. Majestic Oaks still tell of a time when The New Forest was the Royal Hunting Ground of William the Conqueror, kept guarded for the chase of the Royal Deer. The landscape has changed little over the centuries, woodland, mires, forest lawns, and open heathland where the famous New Forest ponies graze freely, are all areas of outstanding natural beauty.
The way the forest is left to evolve naturally, inturn encourages birds of most species and provides a habitat for the wildlife. Deer, Red, Roe, Fallow, Muntjac and Sika can all be found in various parts of The New Forest grazing alongside the ponies. Cattle, Donkey's, and Pigs all meander through the forest at their own pace.
The speed limit is 30-40mph. Please care about the wildlife, this is a unique part of the country.
Remember animals have a right of way!
Be it visiting the pretty villages, walking, cycling, riding or painting the New Forest is the perfect place to relax and enjoy our natural heritage.
